FCCLA May Day Baskets

At the
FCCLA April meeting, members voted to do one final community service
project for this school year. After discussing several
possibilities, the members voted to create old-fashioned May Day
Baskets to deliver to senior citizens in either Seneca or Mazon. To
add to the fun of the project, members decided to purchase wicker
baskets and decorate them with ribbons, fabrics, and silk flowers.
To complete the baskets, students chose items such as packets of
flower seeds, a live plant, note cards a painted wooden flower,
candy and other items that might appeal to a senior citizen to put
into the basket. On May 1st, 20 students delivered 20 handmade May
Day baskets throughout the two communities. Our feedback was very
positive, which encourages us to increase the number of recipients
for next
year.
