Classroom Expectations--Mrs. Applebee’s
Public Speaking
1. Bring your notebook,
agenda book, textbook, and a writing utensil to class every day.
You may borrow from your neighbor or from me,
but you will not be allowed to go to
your locker.
2. Treat others as you would
have them treat you. Show respect for others in your
choice of language or actions. Keep your
speeches CLEAN, too!
3. Reasonable order should
begin at the door; class begins at the bell. Be in your seats
when the bell rings.
4. Late speeches and
homework: If you do not speak on your assigned day, your speech
will receive only HALF credit if you speak at
our next meeting. After the next class
meeting, you must still do the speech, but YOU
WILL RECEIVE A ZERO FOR IT!!
5. If you miss class because
of an excused absence, you will have an equal amount of
time in which to make up any missed
work. Any assignments that were due on days
you were absent will be due the CLASS PERIOD
you return. All missed tests or
quizzes must be taken at a time convenient to
both you and me.
6. If you were unexcused
from a class period, no credit will be given for missed
assignments, nor is extra time allotted to
complete new ones. If you skip class, it is up
to you to find out what’s due for the next
period and GET IT DONE!
7. Because a portion of your
grades will come from in-class activities, it is important that
you check with me after an absence, so that
you can make up any assignments
completed during class.
8. I am available during
homeroom in room 205 and am ALWAYS willing to help. I am
usually here before school by about 7:30 am
and after school until approx. 3:00 pm.
From mid-October to mid-February I have speech
team practices before and after
school and may not be easily available for
help.
9. The grading scale for
this class is as follows:
93-100 = A
85-92 = B
Final average scores with tenths of .5 or above will
77-84
= C
be rounded to the next whole number. Class
participation 70-76 = D
can also help a grade on the border!
69 = F
Warning: There are not that many points in this class! Not
turning in homework
assignments can really hurt your grade, and a late speech can KILL
it!!
