About Mrs. A--Early Life

  Marilee Applebee was born Marilee Kay Clark on March 29, 1 970, to Dick and Nancy (Hatten) Clark of Ottawa.
  She attended Jefferson Grade School, Shepherd Jr. High School, then Ottawa High School, where she played the flute in the band and was a four-year member of the Ottawa Speech Team, among other activities.
  After high school she attended Illinois State University where she received a B.A. in 1992 in English Education, with a minor in reading and endorsements in Speech and Social Science. 
  During high school and college she worked at her parents' business, Sylvan Learning Centers, located in Aurora, St. Charles, Bloomington, and Peoria.
  As a high school student, she traveled over spring break to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland with her German Class.  Then, as a college junior, spent a semester studying abroad in Stirling, Scotland.

Mrs. A--The Seneca High School Years
  "Miss Clark" joined the faculty of Seneca High School in the fall of 1992 to teach both English and speech.  She also became the assistant speech team coach under Miss Downes.
  Over the years, she has been a part of:
         The School Improvement Committee
         The Peer Helpers Program
         The Student Assistance Team
         The Student of the Month Committee
   Mrs. Applebee is now the head speech team coach, with Nicole Olsen as co-coach.
  In the summer of 1998, Miss Clark became Mrs. Applebee when she married Mr. Rich Applebee and also became step-mom to Zach, Cari, and Kody.
   In January of 2002, Mrs. A earned her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Xavier University.  This was a one night a week, year-and-a-half program she and Mrs. Cathy Bergstrom completed together.
  Mrs. A has taken four trips to England, Scotland , and Ireland with Seneca High School students.  During the summer of 2006, she took a group to Europe, this time to Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France, and Austria.
   Zach is now a freshman at ISU and Cari is a junior, Mrs. A's continues as co-president  of the SHS Band Boosters, so you'll see her at all the football concession stands.

About Mrs. A Herself:  Her Likes
  She likes Chinese food, chocolate, shopping,  clothes, water, traveling, reading, playing computer games, surfing the internet, and Star Trek--any of them, but Next Generation is the best!  Oh, and if you hadn't figured it out, she likes angels, too.
  Her favorite musicans are Simon and Garfunkel, but likes most current pop music and classic rock music.  Some rap is ok, and some country is ok. 
  Her favorite poets include William Wordsworth, Robert Burns, and Robert Frost.
   Her favorite authors include Barbara Kinsoliver, Madeline L'Engle, and Elie Wiesel.
   Her favorite type of literature is historical fiction.
