Extra Credit Projects for English III for The Crucible

Points will be assigned based on the project’s creativity, accuracy, time and effort.  Obviously, the more work you put into it, the more points you will receive.

1.      Draw or paint an image from The Crucible.  You could draw a picture/portrait of any of the characters the way you see them.  OR  You could paint a picture of any of the events or settings of the play.  If you wanted to do something three-dimensional, you could do that also: a graveyard with the stones of the executed or a gallows on a hill!

2.    Create a scrapbook based on the ideas and images in The Crucible.  You could organize your page by characters or by significant events in each act of the play.

3.    Write up a diary entry (or two or more) from the point of view of any of the characters who spend time in jail: Tituba, Giles or Martha Corey, Goody Nurse, John or Elizabeth Proctor.  Share their thoughts and feelings about their past, their situation now, and their fates in the future.

4.    Create and burn a soundtrack of songs to go along with The Crucible.  You could organize your music by coming up with a song(s) for each of the key characters or by choosing music that corresponds to the key events in the play.  Have a cover for your CD case with a list of songs.  Write up a short explanation of why you chose each song.

5.    Create a crossword puzzle, word search or other kind of puzzle that could be used as a review sheet for the play.  There are several puzzle making websites out there, like www.puzzlemaker.com.

6.    Think something is missing from the play?  Write a scene for two or more of the characters that fills a hole somewhere.  Be sure your characters use the same type of language as the characters in the play.  Make sure to tell where this scene would be inserted into Miller’s play.

7.    Got another idea for a creative project?  Please tell me about your idea!
