Classroom Expectations--Mrs. Applebee’s Applied Communications

1.     Bring your notebook, folder, agenda book, and a writing utensil to class every day.  Being prepared for class with all your materials will be part of a daily grade for this class.
2.     Treat others as you would have them treat you.  Show respect for others in your choice of language or actions.  The atmosphere of a classroom or a workplace depends on how well we can get along with all types of people.
3.     Everyone’s ideas will be respected in this class.  If you have a question or a story to share that is related to our discussions, jump in.
4.     Reasonable order should begin at the door; class begins at the bell.  Be in your seats when the bell rings.
5.     If you miss class because of an excused absence, you will have an equal amount of time in which to make up any missed work.  Since 99% of your assignments will be done in class, you need to come in during homeroom to have access to the materials you need.  All missed tests or quizzes must be taken at a time convenient to both you and me.
6.     If you were unexcused from a class period, no credit will be given for missed  assignments, nor is extra time allotted to complete new ones.  If you skip class, it is up to you to find out what’s due for the next period and then GET IT DONE!
7.     Because almost ALL of your grades will come from in-class activities and assignments, it is important that you check with me after an absence, so that you can make up the work completed during class.
8.     Late Work:     End of the day/Next morning = 3/4 credit
One class period = ½ credit
Two class periods = 1/4 credit
Three class periods = 0 (better than missing)
9.     I am available during homeroom in room 205 and am ALWAYS willing to help.  I am usually here before school by about 7:30 am and after school until approx. 3:00 pm. From mid-October to mid-February I have speech team practices before and after school and may not be easily available for help.
10.    The grading scale for this class is as follows:               93-100 = A
                                                                                          85-92 = B
Final average scores with tenths of .5 or above will              77-84 = C
be rounded to the next whole number.  Class participation    70-76 = D
can also help a grade on the border.                                    ↓ 69 = F
