Extra Credit Possibilities for Greek
Mythology
Point value will depend on
the difficulty of the project and the quality of the work.
1. Write the Greek mythological “Ten
Commandments.” Creativity of presentation, form, and accuracy
both count.
2. Research and read at least two other flood stories
from other places/cultures of the world. Either write up a report
or create a poster that compares and contrasts them to the Greek story.
3. Create a scrapbook of Greek mythology using the
internet/library, etc. Quality, organization, creativity all
count.
4. Research and write a report on the actual
geographical/archeological facts behind the actual flooding that went
on in the Mediterranean area around the time of the ancient Greeks.
5. For the word-buffs, create a poster, chart, etc.
that illustrates all the different words that have found their way into
our modern vocabulary with roots in Greek mythology.
6. Write your own myth. Include at least one
god/goddess we’ve studied. Have your myth fulfill one of the two
main purposes of myths: to explain or to teach.
7. Create a soundtrack of “theme songs”for each of
the 12 Olympian gods. You could also include selections for any
of the minor gods.
