AP
Classroom Expectations
1. Bring your 3-ring binder (GET ONE),
journal, study guide, textbooks–we have lots of them throughout the year, and
writing utensils to class every day.
2. Treat others as you would have them
treat you. Show respect for others in your choice of language or
actions.
3. Everyone’s ideas will be respected in this class. There is no such thing as a dumb question or idea. We will depend a
great deal of the free and open exchange of ideas--I want to hear your thoughts, opinions, and interpretations. Please
be ready and willing to share your journal thoughts, too.
4. Reasonable order begins and the door. Class begins at the bell. If you are late to 1st hour, you will be sent to the office
for a pass.
5. If you miss class because of an excused absence, you will have an equal number of class periods to make up any missed
work. Any assignments that were due on days you were absent will be due the class period you return. All missed tests
or quizzes must be taken in a timely manner and at a time convenient to both of us. You must always keep up-to-date
on any reading schedules I give you.
6. Late work:
One class period = half credit
Two class periods = quarter credit
7. This is supposed to be a college level course, and you may will get college credit from the exam. College professors
expect you to read the assignments, and SO DO I! Get used to DAILY reading and/or writing assignments!
8. All writing assignments need to be in
MLA. I assume we all know how to do this by now.
9. I am available before and after school starting around 7:30 am and after school until at least 3:00 pm. You can always
come to see me in homeroom as well. During speech season I’m here more.
10. The grading scale is the school-wide scale of:
93-100
= A Final percentages of .5
or above
85-92 =
B
will be rounded up.
77-84 = C
70-76 = D
↓ 69 = F
